Dear fans of erotic and nude photography,I wanted to take a moment to cover some of the ins and outs of comments on Femjoy and explain a little bit about our reasons behind why we sometimes remove comments.
1. Femjoy is about the celebration of the beauty of women in the nude art form:
Beauty is subjective and while some things may not be to the taste of one viewer, it might be exactly what another is looking for. We don't always have to agree on what it means to be beautiful, but we do have to be respectful of the women who have graced us by sharing themselves with us here.
In the ever shrinking world of nude art photography, part of drives interest in models to pose for our photographers is the glamour on appearing on a celebrated site. Imagine being a model and seeing your Femjoy debut, only to have someone leave a disrespectful comment. This has happened in the past and many models have had their confidence destroyed by unkind words.
Photographers also work very hard to find new models and get the best quality photographs of them for publication here as well. Perhaps not all photographers are to your artistic taste, but they are artists expressing their vison and importantly, human beings who see hurtful comments and take it quite personally. They must also work within a models comfort level and within their consent, so it's sometimes unfair to say that a photographer failed to capture certain angles, because it's often models who have asked not to be photographed in certain ways.
Members of our site also have expressed disinterest in seeing negative comments and have said that rudeness or crassness can ruin the viewing experience for them. In fact, only 17% of all members think that commenting is important; the rest think it's distracting, unimportant or they don't really care either way.
For these reasons, we are heavy handed on negative comments. It simply doesn't bring value to most people to see them, and if we are spending too much time deleting and watch-guarding the comments made by users, we've gone so far as to cancel their account and ban them from membership.
2. Forbidden words:
The processing banks for Visa and Mastercard give us a list of words that cannot appeal on any site that accepts their credit cards and we have to comply with that list or we risk processing.
Forbidden words and terms are a tricky situation, because our credit card processors don't allow them to appear on the site to inform you that they aren't allowed to appear on the site. We simply have to remove the comments that contain them, without being able to really give an explination as to why, because there is no appeal on the grounds of context allowed; they rule with an iron fist.
We do realize that sometimes people mean no harm by what they comment and we have to remove it anyhow, because without even realizing they've used a forbidden term, they've done so.
Here is an example of a forbidden words list
Comments are considered 'user generated content' and Visa and Mastercard have charged us with moderating them or removing the ability to allow them in the first place. We can face fines and loss of processing for failure to do so, so we regularly reassess if it's worth the risk and effort of having to wach them to allow commenting at all. We ourselves sometimes find these banned words utterly absurd, but we have to abide by the rules, none-the-less.
In the ongoing effort to make Femjoy a safe, fun place to celebrate the beauty of nude art and to protect the ability of our users to contribute to the community of our site, we ask for your cooperation in repecting the models, the artists and each other.
